India-China troops begin withdrawal from Gogra-Hot Springs in Ladakh after the 16th round of military talks
The 16th round of Corps Commander level talks between India and China was held on 17 July. India and China are engaged in a standoff from April-May 2020 over violations by the Chinese military in several areas. In June 2020, the situation worsened after a violent clash between Indian and Chinese soldiers in the Galwan Valley.

Soldiers of India and China have started withdrawing from Gogra and Hot Springs in Ladakh after agreeing in the 16th round of military talks. In a joint statement on Thursday evening, both sides said that Indian and Chinese troops have started retreating from the Gogra-Hot Springs in Ladakh after they agreed in the 16th round of military talks.
"On 8 September 2022, in accordance with the consensus reached in the 16th round of the India China Corps Commander Level Meeting, Indian and Chinese troops in the area of Gogra-Hotsprings (PP-15) in a coordinated and planned manner," the joint statement said which is conducive to peace and tranquility in the border areas.
This is good news to reduce the ongoing tension between the soldiers of India and China in Eastern Ladakh. On July 17, this decision was taken in the talks at the Corps Commander level in the Indian territory of Chishul and now the process of this border disengagement has started. In this conversation, it was decided that the armies of both the countries would withdraw from Gogra and Hot Spring i.e. PP15. This will help in maintaining peace and trust along the border.
In a joint statement issued by both the countries on September 8, it has been said that the armies of both the countries will withdraw from this point in a planned manner. Earlier, in February 2021, the armies of both the countries had withdrawn from the patrolling point 17 of Pangong Lake and Gogra Hot Spring in August of the same year.
