India and USA to participate in a two-day major naval practise in the Indian Ocean

Officials confirmed that the Indian Navy would take part in a two-day major naval exercise with the US navy carrier strike group Ronald Reagan in the Indian Ocean region starting Wednesday, reflecting the two militaries' expanding operational collaboration.

The Indian Air Force has confirmed that it would take part in operational engagements with the US Navy during the exercise with the US Carrier Strike Group (CSG), which is presently stationed in the Indian Ocean Region.

A carrier battle group, also known as a carrier strike group, is a huge naval force that includes an aircraft carrier as well as several destroyers, frigates, and other ships.

Indian Navy spokesperson Commander Vivek Madhwal informed, "The Indian Naval warships along with aircraft from Indian Navy and Indian Air Force will be engaged in joint multi-domain operations with the carrier strike group comprising Nimitz class aircraft carrier Ronald Reagan, Arleigh Burke class guided missile destroyer USS Halsey and Ticonderoga class guided missile cruiser USS Shiloh."

The drills will feature Indian naval ships Kochi and Teg, as well as a fleet of P8I maritime surveillance planes and MiG 29K fighter jets.

The two-day exercise, Madhwal added, aims to improve bilateral ties and cooperation by displaying the capacity to integrate and coordinate marine operations in a comprehensive manner.

Advanced air defence exercises, cross deck helicopter operations, and anti-submarine drills will be among some of 'the high-tempo operations' that will take place during the exercise.

To promote peace, security, and stability in the maritime sector, the participating forces will work to improve their warfighting capabilities and interoperability as an integrated force, according to Madhwal.

Jaguars and Su-30 MKI fighters, as well as AWACS (Airborne Warning and Control System) and air-to-air refueller aircraft, will take part of the drill, according to the IAF.

The US CSG is anticipated to field F-18 fighters and E-2C Hawkeye planes, according to a statement.

Over the course of two days, the drill will take place in the south of Thiruvananthapuram, on the western shore.
