In what comes as a huge sigh of relief for the Indian citizens, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared tonight that, "Children between 15 and 18 years will be vaccinated from January 3". he further added that the booster doses will be given to health and frontline workers and those above 60 with other health problems from January 10. Recently, a majority of rich Indians were witnessed going abroad to get their booster shots. This comes as a huge relief in the dominating Omnicron variant.
On the occasion of Christmas Day, the Prime Minister said the decision to start vaccinating children in the New Year had been taken in consultation with scientific advisers. The government had been waiting as to why weren't they administering the booster shots when a majority of countries had already started to give that.
The Prime Minister refrained from using the term "booster shot" and used the term "precautionary shot." He added that "precaution doses" will be started for health care and front line workers from January 10.
On the occasion of Christmas, and also former PM, and an exemplary leader Atal Vihari Bajpai's birthday, Mr. Modi added that a nasal vaccine and the world's first DNA vaccine against Covid will soon start in India.
