Increasing number of female hybrid terrorists poses new challenge for security agencies in Kashmir
ADGP Kashmir Zone, Vijay Kumar informed about the increasing trend of women OGWs, while discussing about the changing strategy of terrorists, from terrorist incidents in the Kashmir Valley to historical reduction in the number of active terrorists. He told that a pistol was delivered by a woman OGW to the hybrid terrorist for the attack on two laborers (one from Nepal and one from Bihar) in Anantnag on November 2.
The increasing number of women Over Ground Works (OGWs) helping terrorists may prove to be a new challenge for security agencies in Kashmir. Although the number of women OGWs is very less as of now, but this new trend can take a bigger form in the future. Apart from women OGWs, terrorist organizations are now operating in small independent modules instead of grid system, whose identification is a big challenge.
Similarly, a woman OGW was involved in a grenade attack on a BJP leader's house in Rajouri last year. He said earlier also in a couple of cases women were reported working as OGWs. Now this trend is increasing. If it is not stopped on time, it can be dangerous in future. Similarly, after the killing of most of the terrorist commanders in Kashmir, the masters sitting across the border have started working on the system of small terrorist modules. According to Vijay Kumar, two years ago 80 terrorist commanders were active in Kashmir, now only two are left.
Hizbul Mujahideen, once synonymous with terror in the Valley, is almost dead. Only three terrorists of this organization are left. One of the three is its chief Farooq Nalli. After the collapse of the structure of terrorist organizations, the terrorists are now working on a new module system. In which each member of the module has a different role. From across the border each one is directed only to his share. The target and its detailed information is given to the hybrid terrorist, then other terrorists associated with that module are instructed to deliver money, pistols.
