Income Tax Department conducts raids at 50 places in Tamil Nadu

Chennai: The Income Tax Department is conducting searches at several places in Tamil Nadu. The properties of real estate company G Square are being raided. The G Square company has been embroiled in political controversy in the past, with the opposition BJP accusing top leaders of the ruling DMK of helping the real estate firm grow rapidly in the state.

The department officials are conducting raids at around 50 locations linked to the G Square construction group in the capital Chennai, Coimbatore, Trichy and Hosur in connection with tax evasion. During the declassification of DMK files, BJP state president Annamalai claimed that several properties are owned by the G Square real estate group, which is allegedly close to the DMK.
