Pahalgam Tensions: The X (formerly Twitter) accounts of former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan and ex-minister Bilawal Bhutto are now blocked in India, amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan over the Pahalgam terror attack.

Their accounts displayed the automated message that they were not available in India because "we complied with a legal request to restrict this content.”

Earlier this week, India banned 16 Pakistani YouTube channels for spreading provocative, communally sensitive content and misinformation against India, including several Pakistani media.

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's YouTube channel was also blocked in India on Friday.

What Bhutto, Imran Khan said on Pahalgam attack

Bhutto, the son of the slain former PM Benazir Bhutto, had said that blood would flow in the Indus River if India blocked the waters.

According to Zardari, as per the Indus Waters Treaty, “India has acknowledged that the Indus belongs to Pakistan”.

"I would like to stand here in Sukkur by the Indus and tell India that the Indus is ours and the Indus will remain ours, whether water flows in this Indus or their blood," Zardari had stated.

A day earlier, Pakistan's Information and Broadcasting Minister Ataullah Tarar's X account was blocked in India, days after he claimed that Islamabad had "credible intelligence" suggesting New Delhi may carry out a military strike on the neighbouring country within 24 to 36 hours in the wake of the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.

Imran Khan had described the Pahalgam terror attack as “deeply disturbing and tragic”, but also warned India to act responsibly.

"Peace is our priority, but it should not be mistaken for cowardice. Pakistan has got all the capabilities to give a befitting response to any Indian misadventure, as my government, backed by the whole nation, did in 2019. I have always emphasised the importance of the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination, as guaranteed by United Nations resolutions,” Imran Khan, who has been in jail since August 2023 in multiple cases, said.

Earlier, Hania Aamir and Mahira Khan Instagram accounts were blocked. Other Pakistani celebrities whose Instagram accounts have been blocked in India are Ali Zafar, Sanam Saeed, Bilal Abbas, Momina Mustehsan, Iqra Aziz, Imran Abbas, and Sajal Aly.
