IMD Forecasts Thunderstorms in South Bengal, Severe Storms in Eastern Uttar Pradesh

Heavy rain was expected to continue until Thursday morning in the sub-Himalayan districts of Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, Cooch Behar and Alipurduar.

IMD Forecasts Thunderstorms in South Bengal: The Indian Meteorological Depart ment (IMD) has announced thunderstorms accompanied with light to moderate rainfall will occur south Bengal districts and heavy rain in sub-Himalayan districts till Friday morning.

The IMD reported severe thunderstorms with hail are forecast to continue across eastern Uttar Pradesh with areas including Lucknow, Hardoi, Raebareli, Unnao and Ayodhya expecting thunderstorms for the next two or three hours.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) stated sharp showers raged over the metropolis and on ide Salt Lake on Tuesday night that lower the minimum temperatures sharply.

The IMD further reported heavy rain is expected to continue in the sub-Himalayan district of Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, Cooch Behar and Alipurduar, all of which expect heavy rain until Thursday morning.

Salt Lake recorded the highest rainfall total in south Bengal with 81.3 mm in the 24 hours to 8.30 am on Wednesday.

Kolkata's Alipore station recorded 38 mm of rain, while Dum Dum into 57 mm for the same period.

Cooch Behar topped the state for north Bengal apparently with the highest total 139 mm, while nearby Alipurduar dropped to 110.2 mm.

Delhi under ‘yellow alert’ for severe weather

Furthermore, Delhi issued a yellow alert as an early weather warning signal signalling that severe every going conditions were expected that could make routine daily life hard to follow.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of thunderstorms and lightning, and gusty winds between 40 to 50 kilometres per hour. The relative humidity at 8.30 am relative humidity was 71 percent.

The IMD said the maximum temperature is likely to settle at 34 degrees Celsius.

The air quality in the city was recorded in the moderate category, as the Air Quality Index (AQI) of the city, at 9 am, was 181.

According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), an AQI from zero to 50 is ‘good’, from 51 to 100 ‘satisfactory’, 101 to 200 and ‘moderate’, 201 to 300 ‘poor’, 301 to 400 and ‘very poor’, and 401 to 500 ‘severe’.
