Union Home Minister Amit Shah has reached Kolkata on a two-day visit to West Bengal from today. Amit Shah will attend several programs of the Border Security Force (BSF). The tour will begin with the BSF stopping at the South Bengal Frontier, a statement said.
Shah inaugurated 6 modern floating border out-posts and boat ambulances stationed at Sundarbans. Apart from this, he also laid the foundation stone of Friendship Museum at Haridaspur. Significantly, to increase surveillance in the inaccessible areas of the Sundarbans, the number of floating border out posts has been increased. Whereas Boat Ambulance is being introduced to provide medical aid in the inaccessible area. These out posts have been made on Sutlej, Narmada, Kaveri, Ganga, Sabarmati, Krishna.
This is Amit Shah's first visit to the state after the assembly elections held in West Bengal. There is dissatisfaction within the party after the defeat in the assembly elections and the recent by-elections. The performance of the BJP in the assembly elections held in the state last year and the subsequent by-elections and municipal elections has not been much.
