Hockey India appoints David John, BJ Cariappa and Shivendra Singh as interim coaches
Physiologist David John has served as the High Performance Director for Hockey India. Shivendra Singh played as a forward for the Indian men's senior team and BJ Cariappa previously coached the junior Indian hockey team.

Australian David John will serve as the interim coach of the Indian men's hockey team, along with BJ Cariappa and Shivendra Singh. Explain that after the FIH Hockey World Cup, Graham Reid had resigned from the post of the country's head coach. Physiologist David John has served as the High Performance Director for Hockey India. India will host their FIH Pro League 2022-23 matches against reigning world champions Germany and world No.4 team Australia in Rourkela next month. India will take on both these opponents in two matches each. According to the Olympic website, Hockey India has also announced a 20-member team for this. Experienced Harmanpreet Singh will be the captain of India. Hardik Singh has been made the vice-captain of the team in place of Amit Rohidas.
Veteran goalkeeper PR Sreejesh is also a member of the team. Goalkeeper Krishan Bahadur Pathak is unavailable as his wedding dates coincide with the FIH Pro League matches. Harmanpreet Singh and Manpreet Singh will play in defense for India, while Hardik Singh, Vivek Sagar Prasad and Raj Kumar Pal will play in midfield. The forwards include S Karthi, Sukhjeet Singh, Abhishek and Gurjant. The Indian team will continue to train at SAI, Bengaluru till March 6 before leaving for Rourkela for the FIH Hockey Pro League matches. India will take on Germany on March 10 and March 13. The team will then take on defending Commonwealth Games champions Australia on March 12 and 15.
