This full pension is equal to the officers who have served for 20 years. These 32 women officers of IAF had to retire even before winning their legal battle. This legal battle lasted for 12 years.
Three of these women officers are widows, had lost their husbands in the service of the nation and were given a commission in the IAF on compassionate grounds. The Delhi High Court on Wednesday issued an order following the Supreme Court's 2020 order in the Babita Poonia case, which held that the hiring and recruitment practices for women in the armed forces are discriminatory and They were kept out of the positions they were entitled to.
