Weather Update - heavy to extremely heavy rainfall expected in numerous parts of north India today:IMD
The IMD had predicted that the Southwest Monsoon would arrive on July 10 in parts of North India, however it did not reach until Sunday evening.

Heavy to very heavy rain is expected over several parts of north India, including Delhi, by Monday morning, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), but there was little relief from the scorching heat throughout the day as the Southwest Monsoon has yet to reach the remaining parts of the region.
The conditions are excellent for the Southwest Monsoon to progress over Delhi, according to IMD Director General Mrutyunjay Mohapatra, as humidity has increased due to easterlies. According to him, the establishment of a low-pressure area will also help it advance.
“Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, the Gujarat region, Madhya Maharashtra, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Telangana, coastal and south interior Karnataka, Kerala and Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal,” according to the IMD.
It has also issued alerts for numerous north Indian states, as well as a red alert for Maharashtra's coastal region.
