Heavy Rains Flood Mumbai, Daily Life Disrupted: Mumbai got heavy rain on Thursday as most areas of the city and suburbs received overnight rain. A yellow alert has been issued by the weather department for next 24 hours.
The continuous rain has slowed down traffic on many roads and raised concerns of waterlogging in low lying areas.

Overnight rain may lead to water accumulation in certain parts of the city, especially in Sion, Matunga, Wadala, Vakola, Andheri and Dahisar. Wednesday morning saw no major flooding or traffic jams but IMD warned that continuous rain during peak office hours may disrupt daily life.
According to IMD, light to moderate rain is expected in isolated areas of Palghar, Thane, Mumbai, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg in the next 3-4 hours. Bandra, Dadar, Worli, BKC, Chembur and Kurla have been forecast for heavy rain in the next hour, while South Mumbai will be dry with occasional passing showers.
Yellow alert will remain till August 18 but no rain warning for August 16. So be cautious, especially in flood prone areas.
Local train services are running normal across Mumbai’s suburban network but civic officials are on alert for any disruption. Weather bureau says August has seen less rain compared to June and July but monsoon is far from over. Meteorologists expect a revival of rain in September which will impact the city.

Yellow alert covers Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai and six districts along the Konkan coast including Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg. These areas will get moderate to heavy rain with occasional intense spells. In Thane and Navi Mumbai, cloud cover will be throughout the day with isolated heavy rain. Maximum temperature will be around 30°C and minimum around 25°C.
Wednesday’s rain had already caused waterlogging in parts of Mumbai, slowing down traffic. Morning visuals from Wadala showed vehicles wading through rainwater, a common sight during monsoon. IMD has advised motorists to avoid low lying roads and pedestrians to be careful while stepping out in waterlogged areas.On standby.
