Heat wave is prevailing in many cities including Delhi : Meteorological Department
Indian Meteorological Department that this year the southwest monsoon is likely to be normal. Normal or above normal rainfall is very likely to occur over northern parts of peninsular India, central India, foothills of Himalayas and some parts of northwest India.

For the past few days, people are in a bad condition due to the heat wave in many cities including the capital Delhi. In the second week of April, due to so much heat, normal life is getting disturbed. Meanwhile, it has been said by the Indian Meteorological Department that this year the southwest monsoon is likely to be normal. Normal or above normal rainfall is very likely to occur over northern parts of peninsular India, central India, foothills of Himalayas and some parts of northwest India.
Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Rajasthan, East and West Uttar Pradesh have recorded maximum temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius, including Delhi-NCR in the plains. In the last few days, the heat wave situation in many areas had become serious. Now the first dust storm of this season is very likely to occur over parts of West Rajasthan along with Punjab, Haryana and Delhi.
The India Meteorological Department said that the rainfall is likely to be 96 to 104 percent of the long period average (LPA) of 87 cm for the period 1971-2020. The rainfall calculations have been done at all India level based on the 1971-2020 (period) data for the Southwest Monsoon season. According to this, India is expected to receive 868.6 mm of rainfall. This will replace the normal rainfall of 880.6 mm for the 1961-2010 period.
