The Bombay High Court has issued notice to Nawab Malik, a minister in the Maharashtra government and NCP leader, and asked him to file an affidavit stating that the earlier statements regarding the statements against Gyandev Wankhede and family. Why should action not be taken against him for "willful violation" of orders even though he had told the court that he would not.
Gyandev Wankhede is the father of NCB officer Sameer Wankhede who filed a petition against Nawab Malik in the Bombay High Court alleging defamation. After this, on November 29, Nawab Malik had resolved not to post any defamatory statement against the Wankhede family until the court's decision in this matter.
However, Gyandev Wankhede filed an affidavit before the Bombay High Court on 6 December alleging that Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik had committed contempt of court as he continued to make statements against his family despite giving an undertaking in the court.
