Hathras Case Hearing: High Court order, government should consider settling the family of Hathras victim out of the city
The court said that if the government had asked for a government job in this case, then it should fulfill its promise. In its order, the court has directed the District Magistrate of Hathras to provide travel and discharge expenses to the witnesses coming for the trial of this case.
The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court has directed the Uttar Pradesh government to consider giving employment to a member of the family of the Hathras victim in a government or government undertaking within three months. The court said that the government should comply with its written assurance dated September 30, 2020, in which it had promised a Group-C level government job to one of the family members of the victim.
A bench of Justice Rajan Rai and Justice Jaspreet Singh passed the order on Tuesday. The bench has also ordered the state government to make arrangements for relocation of the victim's family outside Hathras to some other place in the state within six months. The court made it clear that while doing so, the government would take into account the social and economic status of the aggrieved family, as well as the educational needs of the children of the family.
This order was passed by the court while hearing a self-registered PIL after the Hathras incident in 2020. On behalf of the victim's family, it was told in the court that after the incident, the father and brothers of the victim lost their jobs. They have very little agricultural land, from which the family cannot survive. It was also said that after the incident, it has become difficult for the entire family to lead a normal life in Hathras.
The court said that if the government had asked for a government job in this case, then it should fulfill its promise. In its order, the court has directed the District Magistrate of Hathras to provide travel and discharge expenses to the witnesses coming for the trial of this case.
