It is believed that the God of Ayurveda Dhanvantari provided the knowledge of Ayurveda to cure people of various diseases.
That's the reason the Ministry of AYUSH, since 2016, has been observing ‘Ayurveda Day’ every year on the occasion of Dhanwantari Jayanti (Dhanteras).
This year, it falls on November 13. The government is observing it on a virtual platform like all other festivals due to the prevailing pandemic situation in the country. It has also appealed to people to celebrate it keeping in mind covid restrictions.
Besides, Hindus also consider it to be auspicious to buy new utensils, jewelry, precious metal product as they believe that it brings good fortune.
