Hansal Mehta Stands Up For Shilpa Shetty, Says 'Allow Her Some Dignity & Privacy'
Hansal Mehta has come out in support of Shilpa Shetty and slammed those who are calling her guilty in the Raj Kundra case.

Ever since Raj Kundra was arrested in the pornography case, trolls didn't leave a chance to make fun of his wife and actor Shilpa Shetty. From sexist jokes to humiliating memes, the Hungama 2 actor's name is getting dragged in everything. Recently, Shetty filed a defamation suit at Bombay High Court against several media houses for their 'slanderous' coverage against her. Amid all this, Bollywood filmmaker Hansal Mehta has come to the actor's defence.
In a series of tweets, Hansal Mehta called out people trolling her and calling her guilty without proof. The director also pointed at the film industry's silence over the entire matter and not standing up for Shilpa. He also pointed out how people "fill 'news' with trashy gossip."
In his first tweet, Mehta wrote, "If you cannot stand up for her at least leave Shilpa Shetty alone and let the law decide? Allow her some dignity and privacy. It is unfortunate that people in public life ultimately are left to fend for themselves and are proclaimed guilty even before justice is meted out."
"This silence is a pattern. In good times everybody parties together. In bad times there is deafening silence. There is isolation. No matter what the ultimate truth the damage is already done," wrote The Scam 1992 director in another tweet.

Meanwhile, Bombay HC has reacted to Shilpa Shetty's plea. As reported by LiveLaw, Justice Gautam Patel responded to her plea, "The line between freedom of press & right to privacy will have to be balanced. It is possible that freedom of speech may have to be narrowly tailored. But it is not possible to ignore the constitutional pinning of privacy nor to say that if a person is a public figure, that person is deemed to have sacrificed his right to privacy."
