HAL is scheduled to deliver the first batch of three Light Combat Helicopters to the Indian Air Force.
The transaction for the 15 LCH was supposed to be inked in the first quarter of 2021, however, it was postponed owing to the pandemic's second wave.

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has received a Letter of Intent for the delivery of 5 Light Combat Helicopters (LCH) to the Air Force and Army, respectively, pending contract finalisation of 15 Limited Series Production (LSP) Light Combat Helicopters, according to a HAL source. Under the Limited Series Production (LSP) programme, HAL has developed and is set to deliver three Light Combat Helicopters (LCH) to the Indian Air Force. In the current year, two LCH helicopters for the Indian Air Force and four LCH helicopters for the Army would be constructed under the LSP. In 2022, the last 6 LCH will be manufactured.
The Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) conceived and developed the Light Combat Helicopter (LCH), which is the world's lightest attack helicopter. The LCH weighs 5.5 tonnes and can fly at a height of 12,000 feet. It was designed for the Indian Armed Forces. During the standoff with China in September 2020, two LCH were deployed for operations in Leh.
The Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) has been proposed to address the requirement for a dedicated light helicopter for combat by the Indian Air Force and Indian Army. The Indian Air Force has placed an order for 65 LCH, and the Indian Army has placed an order for 114 LCH. The IAF will receive 10 LCH and the Indian Army will receive 5 LCH under the 15 Limited Series Production (LSP) contract. The Indian Air Force now has 22 AH-64E Apache US assault helicopters and 22 Mi-25 and Mi-35 Russian attack helicopters. The Indian Army has 90 Advanced Light Helicopters (ALH) and 75 HAL-developed Rudra helicopters.
