Hairstylist Jawed Habib spits on woman’s head, Police lodges an FIR against him

Hairstylist Jawed Habib has landed him in trouble after he spat on a woman’s head while conducting a hair cutting workshop in Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh.

In a video, which has been widely circulated on social media, he can be seen spitting while giving a haircut to a woman. While doing so, he said, “If you feel that there is a shortage of water, use saliva.”

The incident has created a huge outrage among people. The woman has shared her experience on social media.

Pooja Gupta, the owner of a beauty parlour, said, "Yesterday, I attended a workshop of Jawed Habib. He invited me to the stage for a haircut. He said if there is no water, you can use saliva. From now onwards, I will go to my street-side barber for a haircut, but will not go to Habib.”

Habib apologised in a video and said, "I just want to say one thing these are professional workshops, as in, they are attended by people from within our profession. When these sessions get very long, we have to make them humorous. What can I say? If you are truly hurt, I apologise from the bottom of my heart. Please forgive me, I am sorry."

The National Commission for Women took cognisance of the offence and asked the Uttar Pradesh Police to investigate. The UP Police has already filed an FIR and booked him in various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897, the police said.
