Gujarat court sentences Asaram to life imprisonment in rape case
Special Public Prosecutor RC Kodekar said on Monday that the court has accepted the prosecution's case and Asaram has been booked under section 376 2(c). (rape), 377 (unnatural offences) and illegal detention under other provisions of the Indian Penal Code.

A court in Gujarat has sentenced Asaram to life imprisonment in a rape case. Sessions Court Judge DK Soni had convicted Asaram in this case on Monday and had reserved his decision regarding the sentence till Tuesday. In this case, the court has acquitted six other accused including Asaram's wife due to lack of evidence. Let me tell you, in the year 2013, a woman had filed a rape case against Asaram. Asaram is currently serving a sentence in another rape case in Jodhpur jail in Rajasthan.
According to the FIR lodged at the Chandkheda police station in Ahmedabad, Asaram allegedly raped the woman several times between 2001 and 2006. According to the woman, Asaram carried out the incident at his ashram outside the city.
