Govt orders 66 crore vaccine doses worth ₹14,505 crore

The Indian government is placing its largest order of Covid vaccines, for ₹14,505 crore, to obtain Covishield and Covaxin shots, which will help it achieve the Supreme Court's vaccine availability projections. The ruling is consistent with the Centre's estimate of 135 crore doses accessible between August and December, as indicated in its affidavit to the top court on 26th June. In addition to the 66 crore doses ordered, the government has paid an advance payment to reserve 30 crore doses of Biological-Corbevax E's vaccine, according to official sources.
