Government approves review of medical cadre of CAPFs, 58 new posts created

The central government is constantly working towards creating new jobs and improving centralized recruitment and services. In this sequence, the Central Government has approved the Cadre Review process for the Central Armed Police Forces. Along with the Medical Cadre Review for the Central Armed Police Forces, the Central Government has also approved the creation of 58 new posts. These posts will be of senior officer rank.

Officials said that the central government has approved the proposal for cadre review for the medical cadre of CAPFs by creating 58 new posts in senior ranks and eliminating an equal number of posts. Eight new posts of Inspector General (Medical) i.e. IG Health and 50 posts of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) have been created for this wing.

At the same time, a senior official of the Union Home Ministry told news agency PTI that the creation of new posts will not put any financial burden on the government, as 58 posts of Chief Medical Officer (CMO) have been abolished. The official said that the total number of posts in the cadre would be 1,975.

Deployed to deal with various internal security related matters and duties including border security and carrying out anti-Naxal and anti-terrorist operations, the CAPF has a large number of primary, secondary and territory based medical care hospitals and medical centers located at all its centres.
