Under this, the first train will carry 1,000 elderly pilgrims and will leave for Ayodhya on December 3. The registrations for the pilgrimage have already started.
In fact, in 2018 Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had launched the 'Mukhyamantri Teerth Yatra Yojana', under which his government would provide free pilgrimage to senior citizens of the city at Haridwar, Jagannath Puri, Mathura, Rameswaram, Shirdi, Tirupati and many other places. provides. Kejriwal has recently added Tamil Nadu's Velankanni Church to the list of pilgrimage sites under this scheme.
Under this scheme, the pilgrims are offered accommodation, food and insurance at no charge. To avail this benefit, the applicant must be at least 60 years of age and must not have been a beneficiary earlier. This scheme is not for senior citizens who are working in Central/State Governments or Local/Autonomous Bodies.
