In a major action, Customs officials have seized gold worth Rs 2.95 crore at Delhi Airport, which was being carried by three passengers by hiding them inside 'body shapers' worn on the body like clothes. This information was given in an official statement on Tuesday. The accused were stopped by the authorities on 28 October when they reached here from Sharjah. During the search, a detailed examination of the passengers and their luggage resulted in the recovery of seven rectangular shaped pouches containing the chemical paste. His total weight was 7.76 kg and it appeared to be gold, which was hidden in a body shaper's belt.
According to a statement issued by the Customs Department, 6.67 kg of gold was extracted from this paste, which was worth around Rs 2.95 crore. It said that the passengers have been arrested after confiscating the gold.
