Gold worth 60 lakh seized at Gwalior airport, four arrested
Additional Superintendent of Police Mrigakhi Deka said that on Saturday, information was received from the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence that some passengers boarding the Indigo flight coming from Mumbai to Gwalior were smuggling gold. He said that on the basis of this information, the officials of Maharajpura police station immediately reached there in coordination with the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) deployed at Gwalior airport and officials of the Customs Department.

Four passengers have been arrested after one kilogram of gold was recovered from them at Gwalior airport in Madhya Pradesh. They had tied this gold on their respective stomachs. An official said on Sunday that the value of this smuggled gold has been estimated at around Rs 60 lakh. Deka said, the passengers of the flight coming from Mumbai were searched. About one kilogram of gold was recovered from four of these passengers. This gold was in the form of 'lead pencil and paste' and was tied to the stomach of the passengers. He said that some amount of UAE currency was also recovered from them. Deka said that after this a case was registered against him under the Customs Act and he was arrested. Police, CISF and Customs officials are questioning the passengers, he said. These four passengers are residents of Tanda Rampur in Uttar Pradesh.
