When asked about a third wave of the coronavirus pandemic, Sawant stated that the Goa government has taken the necessary preparations and has also established a medical committee.
Sawant said that on the basis of this committee’s advice, “we have started everything regarding infrastructure, equipment and manpower training. The task force under my chairmanship is giving approval for everything.”
He went on to say that during the third phase of the countrywide Covid-19 immunisation programme, the state has set up camps in every gram panchayat and municipality.

The state administration informed the high court on Monday that any investigation into the Covid-19 fatalities in May as a result of an alleged oxygen shortage at Goa Medical College and Hospital would demoralise doctors, nurses, and other frontline employees.
Manohar Ajgaonkar, the state tourism minister, has also previously stated that tourism should only resume if the whole population of the coastline state had been fully vaccinated against Covid-19.
The government notified the Goa Travel and Tourism Association that the state's hospitality industry will only open completely once the positive rate fell below 5%.
According to government statistics, Goa reported 202 new Covid-19 cases in the previous 24 hours, bringing the state's active caseload to 3066.
As per statistics, seven people have died in the state, bringing the total death toll to 2997. The total number of recoveries has risen to 158,591, including 413 in the previous 24 hours.
