Once again an attempt has been made to burn the girl alive by pouring petrol in Dumka. It is said that the accused has carried out this incident in unrequited love. The accused Rajesh Raut wanted to marry the girl, even though she is already married. The girl refused. After this he also threatened to burn the girl alive.

The case is of Bhalki Bharatpur village of Jarmundi police station area. On Thursday night, accused Rajesh entered the girl's house and set her on fire by pouring petrol on her. 19-year-old Maruti Kumari was badly burnt. After first aid, he has been referred to RIMS, Ranchi. The police have arrested the accused. According to doctors, Maruti's condition is very critical due to 90% burns.

In a statement given to the officers, Maruti said that on Thursday night Rajesh entered inside by breaking the latch of the door and put petrol and set it on fire. When she got up as soon as the body caught fire, she saw Rajesh running out of the house. Maruti belongs to Bhairavpur village of Jama police station area and lives with her maternal grandmother since childhood. The accused Rajesh is a resident of Maheshpur village of Ramgarh police station area.

The girl said in her statement that the accused was pressurizing her for marriage, while she was married this year. Even after this he wanted to marry me. Three-four days ago, he had threatened to kill her if she refused to marry him.

As soon as the information of the incident was received, the SDPO, DSP, police station in-charge along with the force reached the spot and recorded the statement of the victim. In view of the seriousness of the matter, the district administration has immediately sent the victim to RIMS, Ranchi. Along with this, an assistance amount of one lakh rupees has also been given to the family. Police is probing the matter. Police say that the girl knows the accused Rajesh since the year 2021.

This is the second such incident in Dumka in one and a half months. On August 23, Shahrukh had burnt a 16-year-old girl along with a friend. Shahrukh burnt her when she was sleeping in the house. The victim also died during treatment.
