Ganesh idol installed at Idgah ground in Hubli-Dharwad following the order of Karnataka High Court
The court dismissed the petition filed by Anjuman-e-Islam and refused to interfere with the decision of the authorities to allow Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations at the Idgah grounds.

The Karnataka High Court has upheld the decision of the authorities to allow the celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi at the Idgah ground in Hubballi-Dharwad, following which a Ganpati idol was installed at the ground on Wednesday morning. The High Court had upheld the decision of the authorities to allow the celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi at the Idgah ground in a hearing held late on Tuesday.
The court dismissed the petition filed by Anjuman-e-Islam and refused to interfere with the decision of the authorities to allow Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations at the Idgah grounds.
The convener of Rani Chennamma Maidan Gajanan Utsav Mahamandal, K Govardhan Rao, said the prayers would be performed in the traditional manner for the next three days. He said, 'The puja will be conducted in the traditional way and we are going to celebrate this festival for 3 days as per the directions of the Municipal Corporation. We will follow all instructions.
Stating that Rani Chennamma Maidan belongs to the Municipal Corporation, the convener said that he had requested permission to celebrate the festival. He said this morning, 'Rani Chennamma Maidan belongs to the Municipal Corporation, so we had requested on behalf of Samiti Mahamandal that this Ganpati festival should be allowed here. We will install the idol of Ganpati within half an hour.
Some Hindu organizations had submitted an application to install Ganesh idols and organize cultural activities on the said property, following which the Dharwad Municipal Commissioner gave permission to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi festival under certain conditions. The decision of the authorities was challenged by the Anjuman-e-Islam in the Karnataka High Court.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also greeted people on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. He shared a shloka in Sanskrit and wrote on Twitter, 'Happy Ganesh Chaturthi. May the blessings of Lord Shri Ganesh be with us always.
