Select the correct idol of Lord Ganesha
If you are planning to bring the idol of Lord Ganesha then you should make sure that Ganesha's trunk is on the right side as thsi signifies good luck and wealth of the devotees.
Mooshak
Lord Ganesha Mooshak should always be kept beside Lord Ganehsa, if your idol does not have a Mooshak then you should bring one and place it beside the lord.
Shubh Muhurat
There a is Shubh Muhurat to place the idol of Lord Ganesha at your home or office, the Shubh Muhurat for Ganesh Chaturthi begins from 11:03 am to 13:34 am on September 7th.
Lord Ganesha's Face Hidden
Lord Ganesha's face should be covered with a red cloth before bringing it to your house, you can remove it after placing the idol on the right location in your house.
Bath and cleansing
Before sitting for the prayers, devotees should take a holy bath and the house’s should kept clean as gives a sign of positivity.
Wooden Plank
Lord Ganesha's idol should be kept on a wooden plank with a yellow cloth placed above it and it should be decorated with flowers.

Devotees should also place a diya and kalash full of water in front of the idol of Lord Ganesha.
Offer coconut and flowers
Devotees should also offer a coconut and keep it above the kalash along with a yellow flower garland.

Devotees should perform several Mantras and aarti to conclude the puja.
