Since assuming the charge of CDS in January 2020, General Rawat has been working on modernization and indigenous technology from the Integrated Theater Command of the Army. He has also expressed displeasure over corruption in the army and delay in projects.

Work is in progress on the plan of Integrated Theater Command for better coordination among the three wings of the Army (Army, Navy and Air Force). In this regard, a meeting of the chiefs of the three services and other officers has also been held under the chairmanship of Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat on November 1.Theater command is very useful for maintaining coordination between the three armies in times of war. According to the strategies made from here, every decision related to the war is taken.

At present, there are about 15 lakh strong military forces in the country. To organize and unite these, the need of theater command was felt for a long time. At present, the plan to build 4 new theater commands is underway. This theater command will be in addition to the already existing 17 commands of the three military services of the country. The Army will have three theater commands, while the Navy will have one command. At the same time, the Air Force will be given the responsibility of Air Defense Command.
