To tackle the hurdles faced by the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Bihar government has declared that classes for students in classes 9 to 12 will begin on the television channel DD Bihar. These classes will be broadcast every day between 10 and 12 a.m. starting from 10th May.
Classes for students in grades 9 and 10 will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., and classes for students in grades 11 and 12 will be held from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Parents and teachers have been asked to make sure that their children do watch the show.
Each class will last 16 to 17 minutes, and there will be three classes each hour. In addition, students will be taught mantras to help them stay safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. Students will not be able to ask questions, but the lessons will be a relief for those who do not have access to the internet at home.
Bihar's state government has taken the initiative, which will help nearly 36 lakh students from over 8000 schools across the state. Last year, the Bihar Education Project Council developed the "Mera Doordarshan Mera Vidyalaya" initiative, and the multimedia classroom syllabus was developed with UNICEF's technical assistance.
Subject experts and high school teachers worked to create the curriculum. A day before the broadcast, the students will be given the complete schedule of topics.
Bihar Board officials announced the results of class 10 and 12 examinations in the first week of May and the last week of April 2021, respectively. The Bihar state board is the only one to finish the class 10 and 12 board exams and announce the results, while the rest of the state boards have decided to either cancel or postpone the class 10 and 12 exams entirely.
