Fresh snowfall in Himachal Pradesh, more expected in next 48 hours
The Meteorological Department has predicted snowfall in the higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh during the next two days. The IMD has predicted moderate snowfall during the next two days in Kinnaur, Chamba, Lahaul-Spiti, Shimla and Kullu districts of the state. According to the IMD, the weather is expected to remain dry after January 14 while cold wave warnings have been issued in the lower districts of Hamirpur, Bilaspur, Una and Mandi.

Himachal Pradesh received fresh snowfall on Friday, leaving the entire region covered with a thick blanket of snow. India Meteorological Department (IMD) officials said that it is snowing. There has been fresh snowfall in Malana village of Kullu district. It is being told that there is a lot of snowfall here. As per the IMD forecast, the sky will be partly cloudy and the relative humidity will be around 90 per cent in Kullu district for the next two days. The IMD said the minimum and maximum temperature would range between 4 degree Celsius and 9 degree Celsius.
In the higher reaches, Narkanda and Mandhol villages in Shimla district also received snowfall on Friday. Two feet of fresh snowfall in Mandhol village enveloped the entire area in a blanket of snow while Narkanda area received snowfall up to half a foot. Traffic has been affected due to snowfall, due to which there is difficulty in commuting. The administration has banned the movement of tourist vehicles beyond Solanganala.

IMD Senior Scientist HP Sandeep Kumar Sharma said that Himachal Pradesh has received fresh snowfall in the higher reaches during the last 24 hours. Kothi in Kullu district received 15 cm of snowfall while Lahaul-Spiti recorded 9 cm of fresh snowfall and higher reaches of Shimla district received snowfall 5 times. He said light to moderate snowfall is likely in the higher reaches of Kinnaur, Chamba, Lahaul-Spiti, Kullu and Shimla districts during the next 48 hours. According to a tweet by the weatherman, there will be snowy, severe cold wave between January 14 to 19 and it is likely to peak from January 16 to 18.
