Former PM Manmohan Singh Tests Positive, Hospitalised at AIIMS: Report
This comes after Dr Singh has received both his vaccine doses (of Covaxin) - first on March 4 and then on April 3
Sources claim he was shifted to hospital as "a matter of precaution". AIIMS is yet to issue a detailed statement.
88 years old Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has tested positive for COVID-19 and admitted to the Trauma Centre of Delhi's AIIMS. The much respected Congress leader, who was administered a Covid test after registering a fever, was admitted at around 5 pm.
Unexpectedly, he has contacted the virus, even after Dr Singh has received both his vaccine doses (of Covaxin) - first on March 4 and then on April 3.
Sources claim he was shifted to hospital as "a matter of precaution". AIIMS is yet to issue a detailed statement.
Minutes after news of his admission broke, many of his well wishers took to the twitter and other social media to post their 'get well' messages.
Amongst the early birds were the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. "Wishing our former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh Ji good health and a speedy recovery," Modi tweeted. Kejriwal retweeted in Hindi on a AajTak report on Manmohan Singh being hospitalised.
पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री डॉ मनमोहन सिंह जी की अच्छी सेहत और जल्द स्वस्थ होने की ईश्वर से कामना करता हूँ। https://t.co/yvy6EByJ51

These tweets were too hasty to include any heartfelt emotions in their messages. These seemed more of messages to people than the former respected Prime Minister.
But others who seemed genuinely concerned took time out to wish him a speedy recovery with messages which really seemed heartfelt – these included Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi, and senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, P Chidambaram and Supriya Shrinate.
Sonia Gandhi issued a statement, expressing her concern over Dr Manmohan Singh's health. "I am deeply concerned to learn that Dr. Manmohan Singh is unwell & has been hospitalised. On behalf of all of us in the Congress Party I send my good wishes to him for a speedy & complete recovery."
