Fire in the slums of Gokulpuri area , 7 died

Fire broke out in slums in East Delhi's Gokalpuri area late on Friday night. The fire was so fierce that seven people were burnt to death, fire brigade and police teams reached the spot as soon as the information was received. 13 fire tenders doused the fire.

Police recovered seven bodies, all the bodies were found badly burnt. None of the bodies has been identified, nor is it yet known whether the bodies are of women or men. According to the police, a fire was reported in the slums near Metro Pillar No. 12 located in Gokalpur village at around 1 pm. At the time of the fire, people were sleeping in their shanties, seeing that the fire started spreading one after the other. There was chaos, as people ran out of the slums, some people got caught in the fire. Several teams of police and fire brigade reached the spot. The fire was brought under control after about two and a half hours of effort.
