Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will leave for America today to attend IMF and World Bank meeting

Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will leave for the US today to attend the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank. The visit of the Finance Minister will be from 11 to 16 October. During this, Sitharaman will participate in bilateral meetings with several countries including Japan, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Australia, Bhutan, New Zealand, Egypt, Germany, Mauritius, UAE, Iran and the Netherlands.

The Finance Ministry said in a statement that during her visit, Sitharaman will participate in the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank, G20 finance ministers. During her visit to the US, she will separately meet US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and World Bank President David Malpass to discuss issues of mutual interest. The Union Minister will also attend a seminar sponsored on 'India's Economic Possibilities and Role in the World Economy' at the Brookings Institution, a leading non-profit public policy organization based in Washington, DC. She will discuss the features of India's unique Digital Public Goods (DPG). During her visit, Sitharaman will attend a meeting with USIBC and USISPF on Strengthening Investment and Innovation in the India-US Corridor. Apart from this, she will participate in round table meetings on the topic of Investing in India's Digital Revolution.
The Finance Ministry has said in its statement that the purpose of these meetings with prominent business leaders and investors is to highlight India's policy priorities. Simultaneously, the purpose of this visit is to discuss ways to facilitate foreign investment by highlighting the strengths of India as an investment destination to the world.
