FFI President Clears Laapataa Ladies as Official Entry for Oscars Not Veer Savarkar

FFI President Clears Laapataa Ladies as Official Entry: A recent post that went viral on the Internet, claimed that Randeep Hooda's film Swatantrya Veer Savark was chosen as one of the official entry from India for the 2024 Academy Awards.

This comes after the Film Federation of India (FFI) issued a statement stating that Kiran Rao Laapataa Ladies was chosen as the official entry for the Oscars.

However, later on, it was cleared by the FFI president that Kiran Rao's Laapataa Ladies was chosen as India's official entry for the Academy Awards.

The president also added that Randeep Hooda's Swatantrya Veer Savarkar is not chosen as the official entry but it is selected as the independent entry.

A day after Laapataa Ladies was declared as one of the official entries for the 2024 Academy Awards, the director Savarkar, Sandip Singh in a post thanked the Film Federation of India (FFI) for choosing the film for the Academy Awards.

The post said, "Honored and humbled! Our film Swatantrya Veer Savarkar has officially been submitted for the Oscars. Thank You FILM FEDERATION OF INDIA for this remarkable appreciation. This journey has been incredible, and we are immensely grateful to everyone who has supported us along the way (sic)."

FFI President, Ravi Kottarakara told India Today that Laapataa Ladies was chosen as the official entry for the Oscar. He also said that the official registration is done through FFI and that Veer Savarkar also presented in front of the jury.

The president said that although it was a good film, the jury choice was Laapataa Ladies.
