Faridabad Murder: Tannu’s Body Found 2 Months After Being Buried by In-Laws in 10-Foot Pit
A Tannu Rajput, age 25, who went missing from Faridabad two months ago, was buried in a soak-pit that they dug outside her marital house.

Faridabad Murder: In a spine-chilling incident from Faridabad in Haryana, a woman was purportedly murdered and clandestinely buried by her in-laws right outside their home, all while they pretended she had gone missing.
For around two months, the family hid both the murder and the body from authorities, until the victim's father raised alarm at a newly-filled pit outside the home. Now, four family members—including the husband—are under arrest, the woman's body has been exhumed, and a postmortem has taken place.

Earlier, Hindustan Times reported that the 25-year-old woman, Tannu Rajput, had been buried in a soak-pit which was dug out outside her marital residence in Palla's Roshan Nagar. The body of Tannu Rajput, who married Arun Singh, 28, in 2023, was recovered from a pit roughly 8 to 10 feet deep after police had to dig up the road in front of the family's home—a three-story home.
Originally from Khera village in Firozabad district, Uttar Pradesh, Tannu Rajput was reported missing on April 25, when her husband filed a complaint at the Palla police station, claiming that she was mentally challenged and had gone missing a day before. Investigators later determined that little was real in the husband's tale as he was trying to cover up a murder.

Here are 8 details of Tannu Rajput murder in Faridabad
- The police interview of Tannu Rajput's family, who were contacted during their search for the missing young woman, raised suspicion because they could not believe her husband when he told them she eloped. It was clear that something was wrong. According to them, Tannu Rajput was not someone who would disappear without saying anything to anybody. Their concern: she didn't elope — she was killed.
- For weeks there were no answers. Then, on Friday morning, police brought Arum Singh's father Bhoop Singh, 50, to the station for questioning. Sometime later, after repeatedly being questioned, he allegedly confessed that he killed Tannu — and that her body was right outside his house and the night before when it didn't matter if people heard them digging her grave.
- A JCB machine was brought in. As the machine clawed at the earth, and Tannu's family watched, distressed. When they found her family, eight feet down. Gone. They could not speak. After nearly two months of silence, the pain returned while her family identified the clothes - the final, heart-wrenching identification of a family that would not give up.
- A medical board conducted an autopsy Friday at Badshah Khan Civil Hospital and will hopefully have the report by next week.
- The preliminary inquiry reveals an unsettling level of premeditation regarding how Tannu's remains were concealed. Tannu's in-laws reportedly hatched a lie about digging a soak pit outside their gate to mitigate waterlogging to the neighbours. In reality, that was merely the preparation for her grave.
- They waited until late at night and, once the street fell quiet, buried her body in the bottom of the pit before quickly covering the hole with an earthmover - this was done to avoid the labourers as they wanted the lie kept firmly within the family.
- Reportedly referring to the neighbours again, there was a wedding on the street on April 22. The next day, they dug a hole outside their house with a machine. They even put plastic sheets on top of the hole to stop the neighbours from falling in.
- Inspector Satya Parkash, SHO of Palla police station, said, “The pit was originally dug in April for a sewer connection, as the area lacks formal water or drainage infrastructure. The family filled it with sand, and after committing the murder, buried her body there under cover of darkness. None of the neighbours had any idea about what had happened.”
