In an unusual case of bank robbery, an 11-year old boy quietly sneaked into the cashier’s room when he was for a short break and stole Rs 20 lakh. The incident took place on September 28 in one of the branches of Punjab National Bank in Jind, Haryana.
The bank officials came to know about the theft in the evening when the cashier Satyawan tallied the collection and realised a mismatch in the total deposit by the customers and cash available in the bank.
The bank reported the matter to the local police which visited the spot and scanned through the various CCTV footage. While going through the recordings, the police notice a young boy entering the cashier room and swiftly collecting cash into a bag.
After taking the cash, he immediately left the bank premise. The CCTV installed outside showed he handed over the bag to someone and both fled from there.
Satyawan told the police that he left the cashier room unattended for a very brief period of time without realising that someone could enter and stole money.
The police are trying to identify the boy and the person who collected money from him. The police say that there might be a possibility of a syndicate group that uses kids for the crime.
