Exam Guidelines and Academic Calendar for University Admissions 2021-22, New Session from Oct 1 released by the UGC.

The Exam Guidelines and Academic Calendar for the current session and fresh admissions have been announced by the University Grants Commission or UGC. Universities must complete the final year/semester exams by August 31, 2021, according to the requirements. According to the University Grants Commission, the UG admission process in various universities would commence only after the release of CBSE, ICSE, and other State Board Class 12 results, as directed by the Supreme Court. From October 1, 2021, a new academic session will begin.

According to the commission's circular dated July 16, 2021, the results of all state boards, as well as CBSE and ICSE, are likely to be issued by July 31, 2021, following the Supreme Court's ruling. As a result, the admissions process would begin after that, or tentatively on August 1, 2021.

Furthermore, institutions have been told to finish the admissions process by September 30, 2021, and to start the next semester on October 1, 2021. The deadline for filing the open seats is October 31. Additionally, fresh admissions paperwork must be received by December 31, 2021. If the Qualifying (Class 12) Result is delayed, the Higher Education Institute may begin a new academic session on October 18.

In addition to the schedule, the UGC has indicated that, due to the pandemic, universities will not charge any cancellation fees for withdrawals of admission until October 31. After that, if the student withdraws or cancels admission before December 31, 2021, the universities can deduct a maximum of Rs. 1000 as a processing fee.

The UGC has ceased teaching following the relevant standards and protocols in effect in the state at the time. It states that teaching and learning will continue in a blended mode. In addition, regarding examinations and academic calendars, the recommendations are subject to advice from apex statutory bodies/councils concerned, such as AICTE, NCTE, BCI, NMC, DCI, INC, PCI, AYUSH, and so on.
