"Everything Has Been Resolved": Navjot Sidhu After Meeting With Rahul Gandhi
Sidhu resigned as head of the Punjab Congress on September 28 after disagreements with Prime Minister Charanjit Singh Channi over some appointments. However, the party leadership did not accept his resignation.
Punjabi congressman Navjot Singh Sidhu on Friday agreed to withdraw his resignation as state congressman and resume his duties. “Everything has been resolved,” Sidhu said after meeting with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in the nation's Harish Rawat was also present at the meeting. Informing media about the meeting, Rawat said Sidhu shared all of his concerns with Rahul Gandhi and was told his concerns would be resolved.
Sidhu resigned as head of the Punjab Congress on September 28 after disagreements with Prime Minister Charanjit Singh Channi over some appointments. However, the party leadership did not accept his resignation. On Thursday, he met with senior congressional leaders KK Venugopal and Harish Rawat and said he would accept any decision taken by the Gandhis.
Earlier, the two leaders had held a meeting at the state's convention center, but failed to resolve the differences. Channi was appointed Prime Minister of Punjab after Congress removed Captain Amarinder Singh from his post following his bitter power struggle with Sidhu.
