Every seat sold for ₹ 20 lakh in NEET medical exam scam: CBI sources claimed

According to officials, the racket is also active in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Haryana. In this case, 11 people have been named and search is on for others.

There has been a big disclosure about the fraud in the NEET medical exam. CBI sources say that 1-1 medical seat was sold for Rs 20 lakh. The racket that carried out this fraud had offered a seat of medical in exchange for this amount, this racket was spread in four states. On Monday, the CBI had arrested 8 people in this case. Sources in the probe agency said that each seat costs ₹ 20 lakh, out of which Rs five lakh is given to the 'bahurupiye' who solves the question paper of NEET (the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) by appearing in the exam instead of the student. The remaining amount was distributed among middlemen and others.

Sources said that the CBI has arrested six out of the eight people who solved the NEET question paper from Delhi in this case. The mastermind of the case, Sushil Ranjan, was arrested from Safardjung, who used to appoint solvers and receive payments.

To increase the scope of investigation, when the CBI will talk to the candidates as well, the role of coaching institutes will also come under the scanner. Significantly, to prevent fraud, the security check for 'NEET' has been very strict. Items like purses, handbags, belts, caps, jewellery, are not allowed in the examination hall.
