End of an Era: MS Dhoni steps down as the CSK Captain, hands over lead to Ravindra Jadeja
Before the auctions in the 2022, Mahendra Singh Dhoni was the second player to be retained by the CSK after Jadeja.

Two days before the latest edition of the IPL 2022, Mahendra Singh Dhoni hocked his fans when he decided that he’ll be resigning as the Captain of the coveted team. MS Dhoni has now chosen the Ravindra Jadeja to lead the 4-time IPL champions. Chennai Super Kings has however mentioned that Dhoni will be the representative of their team for this season and beyond.
On March 26, in the city of Mumbai, the first match of this season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be played between the Chennai Super Kings, who are the defending IPL champions against Kolkata Knight Riders, who were the Runner Ups in the year 2021. CSK mentioned, “Ravindra Jadeja has been part of the Chennai Super Kings since 2012 and is an integral member. The star all-rounder is in red-hot form and created history in the Mohali Test against Sri Lanka where he scored 175 and took 9 wickets.”
The official handle of the ESPM wrote on Twitter, “MS Dhni, who has led CSL since the first season of the IPL announced his decision to step down, as captain Ravindra Jadeja will lead the team.”
Suresh Raina, in a tweet mentioned, “ Absolutely thrilled for my brother. I can’t think of anyone better to takeover the reins of the Franchise we both had grown up in. All the best @iamjadeja. It’s an exciting phase and I’m sure you will live upto all the expectations and love.” The team of the Chennai Super Kings has been synonymous with the legend Dhoni and it will be interesting to see how the new era of the team unfolds in the leadership of Jadeja.
Before the auctions in the 2022, Mahendra Singh Dhoni was the second player to be retained by the CSK after Jadeja. However, the player will be available for the selection for the One Day and T20 series against England, as per the statements made by the BCCI.
