Elections of five states can be postponed
Due to the increasing infection of Corona virus in the country, the assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur may be postponed.

Due to the increasing infection of Corona virus in the country, the assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur may be postponed. The Election Commission of India (ECI) is concerned about the situation in Corona. The commission has called a meeting on Monday 27 December to review the situation. Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan will also be present in this meeting along with the officials of the Union Health Ministry.
Three days ago, seeing the situation in Corona, the Allahabad High Court appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Election Commission to postpone the assembly elections for the time being. After this, the Chief Election Commissioner visited Uttar Pradesh next week and announced to take a decision after taking stock of the situation.
