Election decision amidst the third wave of Corona, the poetry of the commission and the scary truth

The Election Commission organized a press conference on 8 January and announced the dates for the upcoming assembly elections of 5 states. Polling will be held in 7 phases in UP and 2 phases in Manipur, while polling will be completed in a single phase in Punjab, Uttarakhand and Goa. But on the other hand there is another announcement which the Union Health Ministry makes every day – the figures of corona cases coming in India every day.

On Saturday, January 8, 1,41,986 new cases of corona were registered in India. After this, the total number of corona cases in the country so far increased to 3,53,68,372.

After the recovery of 40,895 infected in the last 24 hours, the number of active cases has gone up to 4,72,169. In the last 24 hours, 285 patients have died due to corona infection. So far, the number of people who lost their lives due to corona in the country has increased to 4,83,463.

According to the data released by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Saturday, 8 January, so far 3,071 cases of Omicron variants have been reported in 27 states and union territories.
