Election dates announced in Tripura, Meghalaya and Nagaland

Nagaland, Meghalaya and Tripura combined have over 62.8 lakh voters, including – 31.47 lakh women voters, 97,000 80 voters and 31,700 differently-abled voters. There are over 1.76 lakh first time voters to participate in the elections in the 3 states. While Tripura is ruled by the BJP, the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party is in power in Nagaland. Meghalaya is governed by the National People's Party (NPP). NPP is the only party in the Northeast which is recognized as a national party.
BJP is in power in one way or the other in all these three states. BJP is single-handedly ruling in Tripura, but this time the alliance of Left and Congress is the biggest challenge for BJP. On the other hand, there is a BJP coalition government in Meghalaya. Conrad Sangma of the NPP with 19 seats is the CM. In Nagaland too, the BJP alliance is in power. In 2018, NDPP and BJP contested the elections together. Presently Neiphiu Rio of NDPP is the CM of Nagaland.
