Election Commission to hear on LJP's election symbol dispute on November 29
After the death of LJP founder and former Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan in 2020, his son Chirag Paswan and the late leader's brother Paras put forth their claims to get the leadership of the party and in this regard the Election Commission.

The Election Commission will hear the side of both the factions led by Chirag Paswan and Pashupati Kumar Paras on the election symbol dispute of Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) on 29 November. In its interim order in October 2021, the Commission had said that till the dispute is resolved by it, both the camps would be barred from using the LJP's name or its election symbol 'Bangla'. In a letter sent to both the camps on November 12, the commission said that it has decided to hear their side on November 29 at Nirvachan Sadan, the headquarters of the Election Commission here.
Both the camps have also been told that if they wish, they can submit any new document by November 28 and share its copy with each other. The Chirag Paswan-led faction is now known as the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) and its election symbol is a helicopter. At the same time, Chirag's uncle Pashupati Kumar Paras has been allotted party name Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party and sewing machine as election symbol.
