ED raids Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan's Jauhar University in UP's Rampur

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has raided the Jauhar University of Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan in Rampur, Uttar Pradesh. The ED team has reached the campus of Jauhar University in Rampur from Lucknow for investigation. The Enforcement Directorate team has gone to Azam Khan's university along with Tehsildar Pramod Kumar. Also, there is a revenue team. It is known that the revenue team has arrived to investigate the matter of 250 bighas of enemy property. Lucknow's ED team and local revenue officials are present on the spot.

The ED had sought the report of Azam Khan and other cases related to him from the District Magistrate. Now today both the ED team and the officials of the Rampur Revenue Department are investigating the enemy property in the university.

Allahabad High Court had granted interim bail to Azam Khan in the case of grabbing enemy property. The court directed the District Magistrate of Rampur to take possession of the enemy property located on the Jauhar University campus and erect a boundary wall by June 30, 2022. Justice Rahul Chaturvedi, in his direction, said that the interim bail of Azam Khan would be converted into regular bail when the exercise of taking possession of the land is completed to the satisfaction of the District Magistrate Rampur.

It is noteworthy that the disputed land of 13.842 hectares belonged to a person named Imamuddin Qureshi, who went to Pakistan after the partition of the country and had left the citizenship of India and took the citizenship of Pakistan.
