Thailand's Department of Disaster Prevention said the quake was felt in almost all regions of the country. According to AFP, at least 43 workers were trapped after the 30-storey under construction skyscraper collapsed in Bangkok.

Video posted online from both countries showed panicked residents running from swaying residential towers as dust fills the air, and traffic suddenly stops on busy city streets.

The Stock Exchange of Thailand suspended all trading activities for the afternoon session on Friday after a strong earthquake struck neighbouring Myanmar, the tremors of which were felt in Thailand's capital, Bangkok, reported Reuters.
