Earthquake occurred in Uttarakhand amidst cracking of land in Joshimath
There are 5 districts of Uttarakhand in Seismic Zone 5 i.e. very sensitive or most dangerous zone from the point of view of earthquake. These districts are Rudraprayag, Bageshwar, Pithoragarh, Chamoli and Uttarkashi whereas, Udham Singh Nagar, Nainital, Champawat, Haridwar, Pauri Garhwal and Almora districts are included in Seismic Zone 4.

Earthquake tremors were felt in Uttarkashi amid cracks in the ground in Joshimath, Uttarakhand. The intensity of this earthquake, which occurred at 2:12 pm, has been measured at 2.9 on the Richter scale. However, it is a matter of relief that at present there is no news of any damage due to this earthquake. Due to landslides in Joshimath, there has been a stir due to cracks in many buildings. Even the roads have developed huge cracks at many places.
Earlier, due to deteriorating weather conditions in Joshimath of Uttarakhand's Chamoli district, which was cracking due to cracks, the severe cold increased the worries of the victims. It was cloudy in Joshimath since Wednesday morning and light snowfall had started on the higher peaks in front. Due to this, cold winds are blowing in the area and more cold is being felt than in the last few days.
