Durga Puja 2021:Durga Puja Pandal in Kolkata Recreates Iconic Dubai Burj Khalifa

Ahead of the Durga Puja festival, West Bengal prepares to decorate its pandals and Durga idols. Every year the people of Calcutta come up with new, unique and innovative themes in their own way. One such unique pandal was built at the Sreebhumi Sports Club in Kolkata, a replica of the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. Based on the theme of the Dubai Burj Khalifa, the club designed the iconic 145-foot panda in Lake Town.

Sreebhumi Sporting Club President Sujit Boz said in an interview with ANI “Every year, we built the pandal in form of a replica of iconic buildings. Earlier, we had built it on the theme of Paris Opera, Kedarnath and Puri temples among others.”

The pandal is 145 ft tall. The burj Khalifa pandal has special and unique lighting arrangements which gives the pandal a very different look. The pandal was built in 2 months and around 250 workers were required to make this pandal really majestic.

SujitBose is also the Fire and Emergency Services Minister in West Bengal government, said that the club also does social works during this Durga Puja festival every year. This time they are organising a blood donation camp for around 2,000 people. The minister said that the club will follow all the Covid guidelines and Protocols.

As per the guidelines, pandals are supposed to be spacious and open from all sides . The place has separate entry-exit points. Pandals should keep adequate space and arrangements for ensuring physical distancing in terms of the existing COVID-19 pandemic norms.

The festival of Navratri are going to start from Oct seven until October 15. This year Ashtami falls on October thirteen whereas Dashami is on October 15.
